Happy Two Week Birthday to the J Team

Introducing Jethro.

He started out as the biggest of the litter - but Joya and Jeb have overtaken him. You can tell him from the other tan/red ones that he has a dark face, his back has more brown without the black guard hairs.

He just goes with the flow mostly. He is attempting to walk up on his feet.

Introducing Joya
She is one of the easiest to recognize - with her distinct color.
She is definitely the alpha of the group - has strong opinions of what she wants - flails if she doesn't want picked up - wouldn't think of being held belly up, she was the first to attempt to walk and has learned to scream and get all the people in the house to come running!

Introducing Jeb

Obviously the easiest to recognize - being the only predominantly black one. He is with Joya and Jethro in the "top of the pack"

Introducing Jack.

You can recognize him because of his reddish coloring.
Jack is the runt and is very very sweet - though not the most submissive of the litter. He is very persistent and can out eat his brothers and sisters.
He is the one that had the trauma of having his tail be infected after the docking and let me tell you he doesn't like bubble gum flavored Amoxacillin

Introducing Janie.
Janie and Jesse are very hard to tell apart - other than the male/female thing.
Janie is very sweet and laid back - doesn't fuss about anything

Introducing Jesse
He is the sweetest and most submissive of the litter. He will lay in the palm of your hand belly up and just snooze - as happy as a clam!

Here Come the Babies......

Okay - so after we got Jordan and we shaved her - next step was to check her health. Actually it was very good - considering that she had been sitting in a dirty shelter for 6 weeks. She was heartworm negative, and had 6 puppies waiting to be born any day. She only had one flea - but did have tapeworms - which we couldn't treat due to the impending birth. She was just skin and bone and babies..... you could watch her sides and see the puppies moving!

So I set up a little nursery in my new laundry room. Put in a little kiddie pool and got a bunch of newpapers and towels and waited.....and waited and waited....

Finally Jordan decided that Saturday night would be the night! So here is the rest of the story.

1. 5:02 pm Male - Jethro - tan with a dark face - the biggest of the litter

2. 5:23 pm Female - Joya (born feet first) Mostly black with brown

3. 6:12 pm Male - Jeb - all black

4. 6:58 pm Male - Jack - reddish brown - the smallest of the litter

5. 8:35 pm Female - Janie - tan with black

6. 9:04 pm Male - Jesse - tan with black

Mama did great! Here are some pics from the first night

Jordan - Mama To Be

Ok - I'm going to try to play catch up.....

Feb 6th - got a call from Moultrie County Animal Shelter. They had a white fluffy thing that they "think" is pregnant. Didn't think having puppies at the shelter would be a good idea - wanted to know if I would take her. Said sure! Here is the before picture
then the after shaving picture. She was filthy and covered with poop matted down to her skin.

After the hair cut - we discovered that Mama was a Schnauzer - and I named her Jordan

I'll add another post to update with what happened next
